Zakat is one of the pillars of Islam, and it is obligatory to pay it according to the requirements.
The Promised Messiah (as) says:
"O ye people who consider themselves among my Jama‘at, heaven will only count you in my Jama‘at when you truly strive in the path of Taqwa. So observe your five daily prayers with such fear and concentration as if you actually see Allah. Complete your fasts only for the sake of Allah with sincerity. Whoever of you is capable to pay Zakat should do so. And whoever can perform the Hajj, and there is no obstacle in his way, he should perform it."
On the Friday Sermon of 6th January 2017 held in Baitul Futuh concerning Waqf-e-Jadid, Huzur (aba) said:
"We see that even in this age, Allah is bestowing the Promised Messiah (as) with such devotees who excel in sacrifices. New members join and in days a zeal for sacrifice is generated among them. This also is matter of reflection of those who live in favorable circumstances. Rather it is a matter of apprehension. Allah has bestowed affluence on them, they live in rich countries, but their sacrifices are nominal. Though there many here too who are so, who make nominal contributions. There are many rich people in the world who pay little attention to this side. They should pay attention to this side."
Members are requested and urged to donate generously in this 60th year of Waqf-e-Jadid.
